John Curtis CHAMBERLAIN, Congress, NH (1772-1834)

CHAMBERLAIN John Curtis , a Representative from New Hampshire; born in Worcester, Mass., June 5, 1772; was graduated from Harvard College in 1793; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1796 and commenced practice in Alstead, Cheshire County, N.H.; member of the State house of representatives 1802-1804; moved to Charlestown, N.H., in 1804; elected as a Federalist to the Eleventh Congress (March 4, 1809-March 3, 1811); resumed the practice of law; again a member of the State house of representatives in 1818; moved to Honeoye Falls, Monroe County, N.Y., in 1826, and thence to Utica, N.Y., where he died December 8, 1834; interment in Mount Albion Cemetery, Albion, Orleans County, N.Y.
