Sandra Oh is a Canadian actress best known for her roles in the television series Grey's Anatomy and Killing Eve. Her parents immigrated to Canada from Korea, where Oh was born in 1971. Against her parents wishes, Oh studied acting instead of attending university, but early on she received critical notice for her breakout performances in The Diary of Evelyn Lau and Double Happiness, both in 1994. After years of guest starring in TV productions in both Canada and the U.S., she had a regular role in the series Arli$$ on HBO from 1996 to 2002. A few years later, Oh made the cast of Grey's Anatomy, playing Dr. Christina Yang. She stayed with the show through 2015 and was nominated for an Emmy five times. Her return to TV as Eve Polastri in Killing Eve (opposite Jodie Comer) brought Oh new fans, another Emmy nomination, and more recognition as one of the few Asian actresses to get awards and nominations from the film and TV industry. Her other credits include the films Bean (1997), Sideways (2004, starring Paul Giamatti) and Under the Tuscan Sun (2003).
