One of Richard Nixon's top political advisors, Erlichman resigned in 1973 during the early days of the Watergate scandal. In 1975 he was convicted of conspiracy, perjury, and obstruction of justice for his part in the Watergate break-in and cover-up. He served 18 months in federal prison before returning to private life as an author and consultant.
Extra Credit:
Ehrlichman won the Distinguished Flying Cross in World War II.
