Chadwick Boseman is the star and title character of the Marvel Studios box office hit Black Panther (2018). Boseman's breakout role in the movies was as baseball legend Jackie Robinson in the 2013 biopic 42. He graduated in 2000 from Howard University in Washington, D.C., where he studied theater arts with a mind to become a writer-director-producer. After college, Boseman moved to New York and focused mainly on his writing career. For the next decade, he had occasional acting jobs, appearing in small roles in television shows, including a recurring role in the series Lincoln Heights (2008-09). Landing the role for 42 shifted Boseman's focus to acting, and since then he's been on the big screen, often playing historically famous African Americans. In addition to playing Jackie Robinson, Boseman has starred in Get On Up (2014) as James Brown, and Marshall (2017) as young Thurgood Marshall. He made his debut in the Marvel "universe" as Black Panther (a.k.a. T'Challa) in 2016's Captain America: Civil War.
