The Doles have no children… Bob Dole was previously married to Phyllis Holden from 1948 until their divorce in 1972; with his first wife he had one daughter, Robin (born circa 1954)… During his Senate days, Bob Dole often clutched a pen in his injured right hand, “to keep his fingers from splaying and to ward off people who might try to shake that hand,” the New York Times reported in 1996… In 2018, at age 95, Bob Dole appeared in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda to honor the late President George H.W. Bush, who was lying in state. Bush was helped from his wheelchair to salute Bush’s casket, and video of the moment quickly went viral.
