Mark TRAFTON, Congress, MA (1810-1901)

TRAFTON Mark , a Representative from Massachusetts; born in Bangor, Maine (then a district of Massachusetts), August 1, 1810; completed preparatory studies; studied theology and was ordained pastor of a church in Westfield, Mass.; elected as the candidate of the American Party to the Thirty-fourth Congress (March 4, 1855-March 3, 1857); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1856 to the Thirty-fifth Congress; resumed his ministerial duties and was pastor of a church in Mount Wollaston, Norfolk County, Mass.; died in West Somerville, Middlesex County, Mass., March 8, 1901; interment in Peabody Cemetery, Springfield, Mass.
