Albert Gallatin MARCHAND, Congress, PA (1811-1848)

MARCHAND Albert Gallatin , a Representative from Pennsylvania; born near Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pa., February 27, 1811; attended the common schools; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1833 and commenced practice in Greensburg; elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-sixth and Twenty-seventh Congresses (March 4, 1839-March 3, 1843); chairman, Committee on Accounts (Twenty-seventh Congress); declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1842 to the Twenty-eighth Congress; resumed the practice of law; died in Greensburg, Pa., February 5, 1848; interment in Greensburg Cemetery.
