E. G. Marshall

Character actor of television, film, and stage who dabbled in archaeology and studyied for the clergy before a chance radio appearance turned his attention to acting. Marshall made his New York debut in Prologue to Glory (1938) and went on to understudy for the lead in the debut of Eugene O'Neill's The Iceman Cometh. His film career took off with his role in Twelve Angry Men (1957). On television, he is most remembered as the senior partner in The Defenders (1961–65), as Dr. David Craig in The New Doctors (1969–73), and more recently with guest appearances on Chicago Hope.
