  • Russia Incorporates Independent Ukrainian Territories: On Friday, September 30, 2022, Russia formally annexed four Ukraine territories under Russian rule. The international world has strongly condemned the annexation. Vladimir Putin, Russia's President, signed "accession treaties" with the Moscow-installed authorities on Friday. In response, Kyiv launched a fast-track request to join NATO, claiming they had long been a "de facto" part of the defense alliance.[1]

  • Ukrainian Troops Fightback To Retake Lyman: On Saturday, September 1, 2022, Ukraine's military forces announced that they had completely encircled the city of Lyman, trapping thousands of Russian soldiers within. Russia's military ministry announced that its troops had evacuated after being encircled by Ukrainian forces. A social media video later showed Ukrainian forces hoisting a blue and yellow national flag and doing a victory dance.[2]

  • Ukrainian Forces Penetrate Russian Lines In Kherson: On Tuesday, October 4, 2022. Ukrainian soldiers broke through Russian lines in Kherson, a strategic city. Russia's surrogate troops in Luhansk said that Ukrainian forces had advanced a few kilometers into the region. According to certain sources, Ukraine has totally retaken Dudchany. Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky says fierce combat is still happening in several areas, but he doesn't elaborate.[3]

  • Stampede At Football Game Kills 130 People: On Sunday, October 2, about 131 people were killed in clashes between rival supporters of two of Indonesia's most powerful soccer clubs. Police Chief Nico Afinta stated during a news conference following the events that supporters of the losing side entered the pitch, and the police used tear gas. Following the incident, two police officers were also reported dead. The Governor of East Java regarded the catastrophe as one of the world's deadliest stadium disasters.[1]

  • North Korea Fires Ballistic Missile Over Japan: On Monday, October 3, 2022, North Korea was suspected of firing a ballistic missile over Japan. The missile flew across Hokkaido, Japan's northernmost island. The Japanese Prime Minister advised residents not to approach anything strange and to immediately notify the police or fire service. North Korea has launched 23 missiles this year, including ballistic and cruise missiles.[2]

  • UN Peacekeepers Died Of Bomb Blast In Central African Republic:  On Wednesday, October 5, 2022, a roadside blast killed three United Nations Peacekeepers.  The central African Republic has been wracked by conflict since 2013 when President Bozize was ousted by Seleka rebels and has subsequently faced pushback from primarily Christian militias. Valentine Rugwabiza, the head of MINUSCA, a peacekeeping operation, decried an armed group's deployment of explosive devices, even though no militia was explicitly implicated in the incident. [3]

  • US House Pass Government Funding Bill: On Friday, September 30, 2022, The United States House of Representatives enacted legislation financing the federal government through December 16. Federal agencies' federal funding is set to expire at midnight. The package contains an extra $12.3 billion for Ukraine's defense against Russian invasion. However, it was met with strong resistance in the House from Republicans, including party leader Kevin McCarthy.[1]

  • Justice Jackson Begins First Term On The Court: On Saturday, October 1, 2022, Liberal Supreme Court Justice Jackson applauded her appointment as the first Black woman to serve on the United States Supreme Court, stating that her confirmation will assist historically neglected groups. On Monday, the Supreme Court will hear her first argument of the new term. The conservative-dominated judicial body has demonstrated a growing tendency to exercise authority over African American community concerns.[2]

  • Trump Seeks Supreme Court Intervention In Special Master Dispute: On Wednesday, October 5, 2022, Donald Trump petitioned the United States Supreme Court to overturn a lower court judgment. In the emergency request, Trump's attorneys contended that the appellate court lacked jurisdiction to overturn the trial judge. The former president seeks access to records seized by the FBI at his Mar-a-Lago club. Some papers may be omitted from examining whether he unlawfully maintained national defense secrets.[3]

  • The CDC Ends Country-Specific Covid Travel: On Monday, October 3, 2022: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) withdrew the COVID-19 national travel health warnings because fewer nations provided inadequate data for credible analyses. Because the CDC did not give blanket advice against travel, the notifications have garnered little attention since April. Around ninety different nations have received warnings about potential health hazards.[1]

  • Air Pollution Particles Found To Penetrate Human Placenta: On Wednesday, October 5, 2022, Researchers reported that Carbon particles had been discovered in the lungs, liver, and brains of fetuses. These particles were ingested by the mother and had the potential to pass through the placenta. This revelation has alarmed experts since the gestation period is the most dangerous time for a growing person. Polluted air is known to increase the incidence of spontaneous abortion, pre-term deliveries, and newborn underweight.[2]
