Tell us about your work---what do you do? Criminal investigations , drug investigations , interviews , preparing reports . What skills are needed? You need excellent interpersonal skills , common sense, good listening skills and patience. What was your major? Criminal justice . How did you get started in your career? I was hired as a jail deputy. I advanced to patrol deputy and then to investigator. What experience do you need in this job? My two years as a military policeman helped a great deal. Describe your "typical" workday. It usually involves lots of paperwork , interviews and reports. What is the hardest aspect of your job? Investigating the deaths of children. What is the most rewarding aspect of your job? Helping victims recover their property and serving my community. What are your suggestions for someone considering this field? Be prepared to put in your "time in the trenches" and take every foreign language class you can!
