Città Vecchia chēt-tä´ vĕk´kyä [key] [Ital.,=old city], Città Notabile, or Notabile nōtä´bēlā [key], Maltese Mdina əmdē´nä [key], town, central Malta. It was the capital of Malta until supplanted by Valletta (1570).
