Thousand Oaks

Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown. There is petroleum production, and pharmaceuticals, motor vehicles, toy dolls, and computer peripherals are manufactured. In the developing southern California area, Thousand Oaks is one of the fastest-growing U.S. cities. Once known generally as the Conejo Valley, it became a stagecoach stop in 1874. California Lutheran College is there.
