Starmer, Sir Keir Rodney

Starmer, Sir Keir Rodney, 1962–, British political leader. A member of the Labour party, he was a human-rights lawyer before becoming director of public prosecutions and head of the crown prosecution service (2008–13). In 2015 Starmer first won election to Parliament, and he served (2016–20) as Labour's shadow Brexit secretary. In 2020, after Jeremy Corbyn resigned as Labour party leader, Starmer was elected to succeed him. He was knighted in 2014.
