Sánchez, Florencio flōrān´syō sän´chās [key], 1875–1910, Uruguayan playwright. His many plays concern pastoral life in the region of the Río de la Plata. Sánchez's style owes much to the naturalism of Ibsen , although it has none of its refinements. His major plays include La gringa [the foreign girl] (1904) and Barranca abajo [down the cliffs] (1905).
