The fools of the title are certainly not the three leading ladies (Berry, Fox and Rochon), the former Mrs. Frankie Lymons who are battling it out over the singer/songwriter's music royalties. Dazzling performances and fully realized characters lift this from daytime-talk sleaze to a truly entertaining biopic of the former heartthrob whose promising career was cut short by heroin addiction.
