A portrait of family love and quirkiness set in the Polish-American neighborhood of Hamtramck, Michigan. Hala (Danes), the rebellious teenage daughter of a drama queen mom (Olin) and an endearing but clueless dad (Byrne), shakes up the familial status quo when she announces she's pregnant. Connelly's characters are bold but the plot flounders.
