Philip Morrison
Age: 89physicist who, as a member of the Manhattan Project, helped to assemble the first atom bomb—which was tested in July 1945, near Alamogordo, New Mexico—and the uranium bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima. After touring the devastated Hiroshima, Morrison spoke out against nuclear proliferation. He also hosted the PBS series The Ring of Truth.
