The Question:
One of my son's classmates mentioned that there was a president before George Washington. Does anyone know who he was?
The Answer:
That's kind of a trick question! George Washington was the first president of our present federal government under the Constitution. However, while not really the same office, the preceding Continental Congress also had presidents. Here's a list of all the Presidents of the Continental Congress.
