Supernova makes one think of the Aliens series: an expensive vessel adrift in space with creative management millions of miles away, staffed by hard-working men and women who are losing the fight of their career and are getting picked off one by one. Yes, it can be very scary to watch.
James Spader helms the ship as Nick Vanzant, captain and recovering drug addict, who busily woos science officer Kaela Evers (Angela Bassett). Responding to an emergency signal, they pick up a mysterious stranger with a mysterious glowing multidimensional souvenir. From here on in, things get ugly.
Aliens talent Michael Hill abandoned this project midway, and Francis Ford Coppola had some uncredited involvement, but these captains didn't risk going down with this sinking cinematic ship.
