Jonny Lang

Lie to Me

  • A&M

Few blues albums in the first half of 1997 received as much attention as Jonny Lang's major label debut, Lie to Me. Aside from the fact that Lang is just 16 years old and hails from a most unlikely blues haunt, Fargo, North Dakota, Lie to Me is a first-class recording, one that many bluesmen twice Lang's age would love to take credit for. It's one thing to impress blues elders with scintillating guitar licks, it's another to do it as a vocalist, too. Lang sings like he's already been there and done that and taken copious notes along the way. It all adds up to a one-two blues punch strong enough to make Jonny Lang a real contender for the blues-rock crown.
