Ex-Stray Cat Brian Setzer has emerged as one of the pompadoured leaders of the neoswing set. Backed by a 17-piece orchestra, Setzer strums his rockabilly rhythms to Louis Prima's “Jump, Jive an' Wail ”and Bobby Darin's “As Long as I'm Singin.'” The best tracks are those that veer from their classic groove for a more modern kick; for example, Setzer croons with No Doubt's Gwen Stefani for an unexpectedly lyrical cover of Elvis Presley and Ann-Margaret's “You're the Boss”. At once original and nostalgic, the album even boasts, yes, a jumping jazz remix of the Stray Cats's “Rock This Town.” Boy, does Setzer ever.
