Abraham Joseph HASBROUCK, Congress, NY (1773-1845)
HASBROUCK Abraham Joseph , a Representative from New York; born at ``Guilford,'' Ulster County, N.Y., October 16, 1773; was privately tutored; moved to Kingston in 1795 and engaged in mercantile pursuits; one of the incorporators of the Delaware & Hudson Canal; appointed by Governor Jay as first lieutenant of Cavalry; organizer and director of the Middle District Bank of Kingston; served in the State assembly in 1811; elected as a Republican to the Thirteenth Congress (March 4, 1813-March 3, 1815); was not a candidate for renomination in 1814; engaged in freighting goods to New York City by water; member of the State senate in 1822; died in Kingston, N.Y., January 12, 1845; interment in Albany Avenue Cemetery.
