    On this date in 1988, an early morning tornado struck Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. The twister caused $28 million in damages and injured three people. Several other tornadoes struck the San Antonio area and 47 in all were spawned by the remnants of Hurricane Gilbert.
