The World Hockey Championships, held in St. Petersburg, Russia from April 29-May 14, 2000. Top three teams (*) in each group after preliminary round-robin advance to the second round. Fourth-place teams play in a consolation round. Top four teams from each group of the second round advance to the quarterfinals.
