Name at birth: Myra Ellen Amos
Tori Amos grew up playing the piano and singing. In her teens she played piano bars, in her twenties she joined a rock band in California, then began recording records in the U.K. on her own. As a solo artist, she got attention in 1991 for her album Little Earthquakes, and she has continued to produce successful records that are usually complex and personal, with musical influences ranging from classical to pop and rock. Some of her more devoted fans call themselves "Ears with Feet."
