Alexandra Kerry is the daughter of Massachusetts Senator John Kerry and his first wife, the former Julia Thorne. A graduate of Brown University, Alexandra Kerry later attended the American Film Institute, from which she earned a degree in 2004. Her father became the Democratic nominee for president that same year, pushing Alexandra Kerry and her sister Vanessa (b. 1976) into the spotlight. However, the Kerry sisters didn't become "First Daughters" -- their father was defeated by incumbent George W. Bush.
Alexandra Kerry is often called simply Alex… Her parents separated in 1982 and formally divorced in 1988; John Kerry later remarried, to Teresa Heinz Kerry, who had three sons from her own previous marriage… Alexandra Kerry had small roles in two movies by David Mamet: State and Main (2000) and Spartan (2004).
