Vesoul

Vesoul vəzo͞olˈ [key], town (1990 est. pop. 19,404), capital of Haute-Saône dept., E France, in Franche-Comté. Agricultural and mechanical equipment and metal products are the chief manufactures. It is a major produce and cattle market. Formerly an earldom, Vesoul was decimated by the plague in 1586. It became part of France in 1678. There are several old buildings, including St. George Church (18th cent.).
