Hakuho

Hakuho, 1985–, Mongolian sumo wrestler, b. Ulaanbaator as Mönkhbatyn Davaajarga. The son of a wrestler, he went to Japan in 2000 to train and made his professional debut in 2001. He won his first championship in 2006, and became a yokozuna (grand master) in 2007. At 6 ft 4 in. (1.93 m) tall and 346 lb (157 kg), he has a straightforward style that involves grappling techniques rather than thrusting. Hakuho holds the record for most wins in a calendar year (2009, 2010) and most undefeated championships (12), with 37 championships in all by 2016.
