Released only six weeks into 1997, one can say with certainty The Pest will be one of the five worst movies of the year. Even the most inane movies can usually get a chuckle or two out of the audience with a vulgar, scatological joke, but the one-liners here are downright embarrassing. Miami con artist Pest (Leguizamo) owes the Scottish mob $50,000, and his troubles escalate when a Prussian big-game hunter (Jones) kidnaps him because he wants to add a Latino head to his trophy case. If Pest can evade the hunter for 24 hours, he will earn $50,000. How convenient. A big mistake for the talented Leguizamo.
