based on a novella by Honoré de Balzac |
A Napoleanic soldier (Daniels) who gets lost in the desert finds shelter and love with a leopard that saves his life by bringing him food and water. No, it's not the Saharan heat, the guy really does have it bad for this sleek cat, which he names Simoon. Visually lush, the film's reverence for nature and animals is admirable, but the premise is hard to take seriously.
