Danish newspaper editor, helped to stir massive outrage among Muslims all over the world when he commissioned cartoonists to draw the Prophet Muhammad “how they saw him.” Twelve cartoons appeared in the newspaper Jyllands-Posten in September 2005. Several European newspapers reprinted the cartoons in late January, and protests erupted throughout the world. Demonstrators burned Danish embassies and missions in several cities in the Middle East. More than a dozen people were killed during the often violent protests. Muslims consider it blasphemous to depict Muhammad in any medium.
