Robert Morris YARDLEY, Congress, PA (1850-1902)

YARDLEY Robert Morris , a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Yardley, Bucks County, Pa., October 9, 1850; attended public and private schools in Yardley and Doylestown; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1872 and commenced practice in Doylestown, Pa.; district attorney of Bucks County 1880-1884; delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1884; elected as a Republican to the Fiftieth and Fifty-first Congresses (March 4, 1887-March 3, 1891); chairman, Committee on Expenditures in the Department of War (Fifty-first Congress); declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1890; resumed the practice of law in Bucks County; member of the Doylestown School Board; director of several financial and public service corporations; died in Doylestown, Pa., December 8, 1902; interment in Doylestown Cemetery.
