Michael DONOHOE, Congress, PA (1864-1958)

DONOHOE Michael , a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Killeshandra, County Cavan, Ireland, February 22, 1864; attended the schools of Ireland and a private classical school; taught as principal of a national school from January 1885 until October 1886; immigrated to the United States and settled in Philadelphia, Pa., November 8, 1886; real-estate broker; engaged in banking and in the manufacture of glassware; elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-second and Sixty-third Congresses (March 4, 1911-March 3, 1915); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1914 to the Sixty-fourth Congress; director of Northwestern General Hospital 1893-1943; trustee of Temple University; real-estate assessor for the city of Philadelphia from April 15, 1919, to March 31, 1946, when he retired; died in Philadelphia, Pa., January 17, 1958; interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
