Best Known as: keyboardist and founding member of Pink Floyd

Richard Wright was one of the founding members of the art-rock group, Pink Floyd. His somber keyboard sound was an integral part of the band's success. Wright wrote "The Great Gig in the Sky," for the 1973 Pink Floyd album, "The Dark Side of the Moon," which sold over 40 million copies. Although Wright and the other members of Pink Floyd started with a love for jazz and rhythm and blues, the band developed an experimental sound that became popular in the 1960s psychedelic movement, and continued their success through the 1970s.
