Best Known as: brilliant defensive basketball player in the N.B.A.
Former basketball player who played 14 seasons in the N.B.A. for the Seattle Supersonic, Pheonix Suns, and Boston Celtics. He was a brilliant defensive player, a five-time All-Star guard, most valuable player of the 1979 N.B.A. finals, and member of nine consecutive N.B.A. All-Defensive teams. Johnson had 15,535 points and 5,499 assists in his career, which ended after his 1989-90 season. He went on to be the Celtic's assistant coach from 1993-1997, and an assistant for the Los Angeles Clippers for four seasons. In 2004 he became the head coach of the N.B.A. Development League's Florida Flames. After one season in Florida he became head coach of the Austin Toros.
