Formula One race car driver Michael Schumacher of Germany was world's highest paid athlete in the year 2000, but has been overtaken by scandal-plagued golfer Tiger Woods. Beginning in 2003 and running through 2010, Woods topped the list of the world's highest paid athlete. He made a stunning $91.5 million in 2010.
