    On this date in 1911, a brisk chill was experienced throughout the central U.S. The temperature in Kansas City was 76 degrees in late morning when an overcast sky, teamed with a dramatic cold wave, lowered the temperatures to eleven degrees by midnight. Oklahoma City's thermometer's read 83 degrees before noon and 17 degrees that night. In addition, the Mississippi Valley experienced tornadoes and thunderstorms, Oklahoma was hit by a dust storm, and a blizzard blanketed the Ohio Valley.
