*Seles was ranked co-No. 1 upon her return to the WTA Tour following her recovery from the on-court stabbing she suffered on April 13, 1993. She was provided with that ranking for the first six tournaments or 12 months from the date of her first tournament (Aug. 15, 1995). Then, Seles was co-ranked based upon her ranking average which was calculated using a reduced minimum divisor until she played 14 tournaments or 18 months from the date of her first tournament.
