Red Planet

Cast:Carrie-Anne Moss, Val Kilmer, Tom Sizemore

In a not-so-distant future, all the frogs have died. If humanity is to survive the impending ecological apocalypse they must colonize Mars. NASA folks began by injecting the planet with oxygen-producing algae. But something's gone wrong. Commander Kate Bowman (The Matrix's Carrie-Anne Moss) leads a crew of cliché-ridden sci-fi characters to investigate. Could it be the script, an uninspired piece of work as arid as the red planet itself? Even Val Kilmer's hunky "space janitor" seems bored. The extras who get picked off one by one lack decent lines and screen presence. Red Planet is a sketch of the usual Martian troubles: lack of water and air, hostile lifeforms, sudden storms, a robot with a chip on its shoulder, and the commander in orbit nervously waiting to rescue her companions below.

Americans land on the Red Planet with a club foot. Moss in the mothership keeps the mission from complete failure.
