Less cutesy than A Bug's Life and even a little subversive, it's the story of a worker ant (Allen) who wages war to impress a princess ant (Stone). The animation's stiff and weird-looking, but the surprisingly whipsmart script, complete with plenty of Allen's self-deprecatory shtick and catch-it-if-you-can satire, allows its stars to be, ironically, more likable than they usually are “live.”
