My Favorite Martian

Disney's latest live-action offering resuscitates a 1960s sitcom of the same name and squanders Christopher Lloyd's penchant for eccentric hilarity with goofy sight gags and lowbrow humor. Jeff Daniels plays a TV reporter whose house gets in the way of Lloyd's spaceship. Assuming human form but bumbling about with comic alien awkwardness, Lloyd moves in. He presents love advice (Daryl Hannah or Elizabeth Hurley, earthman?) while inciting general havoc. Tenacious, rapacious scientists keep “Uncle Martin” on the run. Kudos to Zoot, Lloyd's spirited polymorphous spacesuit with an actively heterosexual libido.
