Lana Turner (Julia Jean Mildred Frances Turner) actress Born: 2/8/1921 Birthplace: Wallace, Idaho
The legendary Turner was “discovered” while sipping soda at Schwab's Drugstore on Sunset Boulevard and, after numerous bit parts, was transformed into the film goddess known as “The Sweater Girl.” A star role in Dancing Co-Ed (1939) was followed by a long string of credits, including Weekend at the Waldorf (1945), The Postman Always Rings Twice (1946), Peyton Place (1957, which gained her an Oscar nomination), and Bittersweet Love (1976). Turner appeared on TV's Falcon Crest (1982–83) late in her career. Died: 6/29/1995
