Sheryl Crow

Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter known all-around musical expertise and for her edgy pop songs, such as “All I Wanna Do” (1993), “ If It Makes You Happy” (1996) and “Strong Enough” (1996). The daughter of a trumpeter and a piano teacher, Crow received a degree in piano and voice from University of Missouri at Columbia (1984) and got her start with various bands in the Midwest during the early 1980s. After moving to L.A. in 1986, she sang backup for Michael Jackson, Don Henley and Rod Stewart before launching her successful solo career. Crow's list of Grammys includes Best New Artist (1995) and Best Female Rock Vocal Performance (1996). In addition, she won Best Rock Album Grammys twice, in 1996 for her eponymously titled follow-up to Tuesday Night Music Club (1993), and in 1998 for The Globe Sessions. Crow's recent publicity has surrounded her relationship with cycling great Lance Armstrong. The two met in 2003, got engaged in 2005, and then announced their breakup early in Feb. 2006. Later that same month, Crow was diagnosed with breast cancer.
