Actress best known for her starring role as the fastidious roommate
Monica Geller on the hit TV sitcom Friends (1994–2004). Cox got her
first big break when she was handpicked by Bruce Springsteen to dance
onstage in his Dancing in the Dark video (1983). She later played
the girlfriend of Michael J. Fox 's character
on Family Ties (1987–89) and appeared in several TV movies. But it
was the widely popular show Friends, co-starring Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer, that
brought Cox fame. Several screen roles followed, including horror spoofs
Scream (1996), Scream 2 (1997), and Scream 3 (2000).
Cox returned to television in 2006 and stared in the FX drama Dirt.
She's married to actor David Arquette.
