This versatile character actor is the older brother of actor Dennis Quaid. He has appeared in the films What's Up, Doc? (1972), The Last Detail (1973, in an Oscar-nominated performance), The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz (1974)Bye, Bye, Love (1995), Independence Day (1996), and Kingpin (1996). His TV career has included the lead role in LBJ: The Early Years (1987; it earned him a Golden Globe Award), the TV movie Of Mice and Men (1981), and the star role in the sitcom Davis Rules (1991–92).
