Doris Day (Doris Kappelhoff) singer, actress Born: 4/3/1924 Birthplace: Cincinnati, Ohio
America's No.1 female box office attraction during the late 1950s and '60s, she starred in a number musicals, comedies, and thrillers, including The Pajama Game (1957), Pillow Talk (1959), and Midnight Lace (1960). She later left films to star in the popular TV sitcom The Doris Day Show (1968–73). She founded the Doris Day Animal League in 1987 to lobby the government on animal rights issues.
