Making her film debut in Francis Ford Coppola's One from the Heart (1982), she achieved popular success after starring as the call girl Lana opposite Tom Cruise in Risky Business (1983). She has also appeared in the movies The Trip to Bountiful (1986), Backdraft (1991), and The Hand That Rocks the Cradle (1992).
