Murray Burnett

writer, high school teacher
Born: 1911

He co-wrote (with Joan Alison) Everybody Comes to Rick's, an unproduced play that was bought by Warner Brothers for the unprecedented sum of $20,000 and used as the basis for the movie Casablanca (1942). The play was finally brought to the stage in 1991.
