Critics debated this vitriolic, crudely funny self-parody that places a wizened Woody in the midst of uncomfortably familiar circumstances, i.e. cheating on his wife. A stroke of genius? Or a desperate attempt at art imitating life? The result is suitably ironic and even post-modernist, but ultimately exhausting and a bit empty. Just like life with Woody himself? Hmm.
