Michael Apted

Earning critical acclaim for his films Agatha (1979) and Coal Miner's Daughter (1980), he later directed Gorillas in the Mist (1988), Thunderheart (1992), and Nell (1994). He is also noted for a series of documentaries, including 28 Up (1985) and 35 Up (1993), in which he traces the lives of the same group of people at seven-year intervals.
